Scalp micropigmentation is a very effective way to conceal hair transplant scars. It is a minimally invasive procedure that involves depositing pigment into the skin to create the illusion of a full head of hair. The results are natural-looking and long-lasting, and the procedure can be performed in a single session.
The procedure for hair transplant surgery involves taking hair follicles from an area of the head where hair is growing thick and transferring them to an area where hair is thin or nonexistent. This can be done with two different types of procedures: FUT (follicle unit transplantation) and FUE (follicle unit excision).
Follicle Unit Transplantation:
After FUT surgery, a linear scar is left on the donor area where the surgeon used a surgical blade to remove a strip of scalp 3-4 inches in length. This strip is then cut into several hundred to thousands of small grafts, which are implanted into the tiny slits on the scalp where hair has stopped growing (the recipient site). As a result of this surgery, there is a more obvious scar on the donor area than on the recipient site.
This procedure can result in a scar less than 1mm in thickness when using advanced surgical techniques. Your scar will be hidden behind your hair if you have long hair, but if your hair is short, it will be visible as a linear line without hair.
Follicle Unit Excision:
FUE involves removing hair from the donor area in small, round patches. Transplanting these hair follicles to the recipient side results in small black dots like scars. Round patches are less visible and easier to conceal than linear scars.
People often choose Scalp Micropigmentation after undergoing hair transplant surgery as it allows them to keep the short hair look without revealing any signs of the surgery. This way, they can appear to have short hair and fully conceal the scars from their hair transplant surgery.
Scalp Micropigmentation
Scalp micropigmentation can treat hair loss without surgery. Thin hairlines are thickened by the tattoo. In this treatment, microneedles are used to tattoo bald people’s scalps. It appears as if the bald head has been completely shaved or buzzed. The application of dermal pigments takes place.
When Scalp Micropigmentation is performed, a team of specialists inject pigment on the upper layer of scar tissue to give the appearance of hair follicles. To give the procedure a more natural look, they also add replicated follicles to the surrounding areas where hair is thin. This way, the scar will appear more even and natural.
